Abstract: In academic discourse, where rationality often reigns supreme, faith is frequently regarded as a non-scientific “other.” But must the two stand in opposition? This lecture will explore the intricate interplay between scholarly research and systems of belief, examining how rational inquiry and spiritual pursuit intersect from multiple perspectives, including the philosophy of science and religious studies. Venerable Master Jingyin will draw upon rich research experience to reflect on how faith can shape academic thought and practice. The lecture will also offer a comparative analysis of belief systems across cultural contexts, investigating their potential influence on research methodologies and scholarly outcomes.
